This 13 year old Glenrothes was distilled in July of 1998 and it was aged for 13 years in casks 91761 and 91762. It was finished in oak that previously held Chateau Palmer wine. A release of 673 bottles from Ian MacLeod's Dun Bheagan range.
Nose: Nutty and spicy. Quite fruity too, with the musty, intense character of an old port wine. Hints of tropical fruits, chamomile tea, sweetness, blossom and dates.
Palate: Rich, big and bold with walnut, manuka honey and apple peels, caramelised. Hints of oaky red wine and star anise.
Finish: Good length with thick, rich malt, roasted nuts, peels and fruit, a little cranberry perhaps.
