Glenmorangie Taghta Bottling Note

The Taghta from Glenmorangie is a 'crowd-sourced' whisky, in that many of its characteristics were decided by the Cask Masters, Glenmorangie's loyal fans - an exciting concept which has resulted in this limited edition expression. The Taghta is a non-chill filtered single malt which has received a finishing period in ex-Manzanilla casks. It has been bottled at 46% ABV and given a rather apt title, as "Taghta", is Scottish Gaelic for "Chosen".

Glenmorangie The Taghta Reviews

Only If You Collect

Picked this up today because I was so surprised to see it. I'm a huge Glenmorangie fan and would only recommend this to people who collect. Don't get me wrong, it's a great dram, but I agree it doesn't necessarily bring anything new to the table. That's why I've rated it slightly low. To me, it's a slightly more sherried version of the 18. For the price, not unique.

Well " Chosen"

Wonderful dram indeed.

The Chosen

Almond, nut butter, sherry presence, waxy, subtle smoke, smooth orange feel. Rose hips, red apples, honey, baklava, puff pastry, allspice, lemon peel.
An interesting bottle.

Excellent sherried single malt

If you enjoy Glenmorangie 18, you will love Taghta. The sherry influence is obvious for both, yet they are quite distinct from each other. On the nose Taghta is sweet custard with a slight citrus tang. The taste is rich, sweet and creamy, with oak spice and salt toffee tang. The sherry and leather notes are subtle and sublime. The finish is intense and long-lasting, initially spicy then shifting to malty sweetness.

@Not bad at all. I dont think "nothing spectacular" is calling the "buyers" inexperienced. He is recommending it for inexperienced drinkers, big difference. As for my opinion, i think this is a waste of money seen how there are so many amazing whiskies at this price range.

Not bad at all

This dram has nutty oily zesty tones and is not what I was expecting oh and with regards to @nothing spectacular if we who are purchasing this dram are inexperienced then why are you purchasing this dram. Talk about shooting your self in the foot tut tut !.

Nothing spectacular

Medioker whisky that doesnt bring anything new to the table. Could maybe be an alternativ for inexperienced whisky drinkers.

Improves with water

Nose: (without water) Orange zest, chalk, apple acidity, touch of rubber and leather. Nutty toffee, dried fruits in the background. With water the toffee and dried fruits come to the foreground.
Taste: Spice and zest, orange, nuts and dried fruits with a hint of toffee. Salty finish with notes of dried fruits.
With water, more water than usual, this whisky improves a lot, the sweet barley notes, the toffee and dried fruits come through. The score is based on the watered down version.
