Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or Bottling Note

Here we have Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or, finished in lovely syrupy Sauternes wine casks! The single malt is initially aged in American oak bourbon casks before being transferred to wine casks from Sauternes, which previously held the sweet French wine. If you fancy this one in a Highball, pairing it with grapefruit soda and a wedge of lime works a treat.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sweet citrus notes, with lemon curd and vanilla shortbread, followed by oak spice and gingerbread. Dried fruit follows with a drizzle of runny honey.

Palate: Silky and syrupy, with syrup sponge and vanilla custard, buttery baklava and toasted brown sugar.

Finish: Dry oak alongside lemon shortbread and gingersnap biscuits.

Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or Reviews

Very nice.

A really easy sipping whisky.
Thank you.

As above

Absolutely splendid!!

13th August 2022

A good next step after Scotch 101.

Nose: Citrus and peel, candied fruit.
Palate: Vanilla, fruit, fall spice, touch of sting.
Finish: Oak and tannins, maple but not sweet, long lasting.

Heed the negative reviews

Well now; I am quite partial to a sweet white wine finish, having enjoyed some Bruchladdich expressions. So I was taking the negative reviews with a pinch of salt. If this is the sort of thing you don't like, you won't like it. Mistake. This is rather poor.
Nose - lemon shortbread
Palate - this where the problems lie; it needs something else (dried fruit?) to balance the sweetness.
Finish - long and not bad
It's not terrible but not a great buy.

Tainted, not finished.

Such a disappointing addition to the Glenmorangie cask finish series, not as bad as the Glen Moray Chardonnay finsh, but as white wine finishes go... Just stop! There is no 'maturation' just Sauternes 'taint'. Nose and palate seem fine and typically 'morangie, but the finish... My word, dram down the drain.

I miss the old 16yo Nectar

Not even remotely close to what the old 16yo was. Highball stuff to be mixed. Sad

Delicious

Sip a sip, wait a couple of seconds, and take a slow breath in and out through your mouth. The floral notes on the out breath are like perfume. Never had another whisky like it. Must be the Sauternes casks.

You won’t be disappointed

Very good value all you want from a whisky smooth like honey but not overly sweet nice sharp fruit that counteracts the sweetness to easy to drink great with a slice of cake

6th March 2021

It's good, but I feel it fails it potential.

Nose: Toffee vanilla.

Palate: Peppered spice is full, sweet and wholesome. No sourness.

After: Lemony and thick.

Beautiful whisky!

Really one of my top 3 daily sippers!

Sweet, but not overly so. The vanilla and honey flavors are balanced by the cinnamon and gingerbread notes.

Oh... and try opening the bottle, have a dram, then close it and put it aside for a month. Then, re-open. You will find that it will have gotten so much better!

Love this whisky!
