A stunning old Glenlivet distilled on the 26th November 1954 and aged for 56 years in first sherry hogshead #2736. This comes from the private collection of Michael GC Urquhart (the Director at Gordon and MacPhail) - each bottle is numbered and bears his signature. It was even rated Best Single Cask Whisky of the Year, 41 years old and over in the 2012 Whisky Bible!
Nose: Demerara sugar and thick barley malt. Some potpourri and marmalade, a little espresso bean and gingernut biscuit, a touch of leather too.
Palate: Thick and biscuity with rich, creamy malt, golden syrup, old oak, mahogany, cigar leaves and mince pies.
Finish: Custard, malt and leather, very well-aged and intense.
