A 22 year old, cask strength Glenkinchie, bottled by Signatory. This was distilled on the 22nd October 1987, and aged in hogshead 2852 before bottling on the 15th July 2010. A release of 136 numbered bottles, at cask strength.
Nose: Very malty, barley-led nose with hints of toffee brittle and more than a suggestion of bourbon too. There’s some big, bold spice in here too; cinnamon and tingling nutmeg. Creamy and dry, notes of old ropes and oak.
Palate: Sweet and tangy. Some tart, crisp fruit hits the sides of the tongue, offering up gooseberries and cranberries. Manuka honey sweetness, vanilla ice cream and wafers.
Finish: Sweet spices, strawberry jam and buttered white toast on the tail.
