Glengoyne 25 Year Old Bottling Note

Introduced in early 2014, this is a 25 year old single malt from the Glengoyne distillery - an addition to their core range. The Highlands distillery uses unpeated malt for this whisky, which is then matured for a quarter of a century in Sherry casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Big notes of sherry-soaked fruit up front - raisins, figs and oranges. This is followed by wafts of toasted almonds and classic notes of old leather.

Palate: Vanilla and dark chocolate open up the palate. Sherry comes through yet again, but this time in the shape of rich, well spiced fruit cake. Hints of orange and oak round it off.

Finish: The finish lasts with notes of red fruits and cracked black pepper.

Overall: A very easy dram to get lost in, to take your time with on every step.

Glengoyne 25 Year Old Reviews

Fantastic

Absolutely fabulous had 50 year old glenfarclas an the 25 blows any thing away especially for the money

Elegant and delicious.

I drank this 50:50 with chilled, filtered water. Elegant, delicious, no burning sensation at all, instead a rich, rounded, soft mouthful, vanilla on the nose, hints of toffee in the mouth, deep bass notes after taste, a sweetness on the palate after the mouthful is swallowed. Then sip again, another satisfying mouthful. I am normally too tight with money to drink a whiskey at this price, currently £450, but this is a gift and I appreciate the taste and the donor.

Tastes of Christmas

This is my all time favourite whisky so far. I saved up for a bottle and it was worth every penny.
A taste of Christmas, of sherry and burning logs, almonds and cherry and cherries. A dash of water brings in orange undertones and a hint of figs.
The finish is smooth and luxurious, treacle toffee and Christmas spices, becoming more peppery after a light touch of water is added.

Delicious!

Absolutely delicious. I like my whiskies well diluted with water, 50:50, and this was a soft, sweet, malt with sherry notes, satisfying in every way.

Superb dram

Wonderful dram with hints of treacle toffee medium finish, expensive but worth it, glad I saved for the birth of my grandaughter

This dram is a dream, best of best, I had on my old tastebuds, and believe me, I had quite a few. 6 stars!

Fantastic stuff

I’m a big fan of Glengoyne, and this is by far the best I have tasted. Well worth the money.

Disappointing

Tried a sample and considering the price, found this to be quite disappointing. It was pleasant enough, although lacked depth and was a bit flat. The palate was not in the same league as A'bundh. Glad I didn't shell out 250 quid for a bottle.

Would not rule out a bad sample, considering some of the other reviews.
