Glenfiddich IPA Cask Bottling Note
Part of Glenfiddich's Experimental Series comes a single malt which was finished for three months in casks which previously held IPA! Created collaboratively by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and IPA expert Seb Jones, the IPA which was in the casks before the whisky was specially brewed for this expression by the Speyside Craft Brewery. Bound to be a fascinating whisky for whisky and beer enthusiasts alike (and the cross-over of that Venn diagram, too).

Great value tasty whisky’s
This ticks the boxes for me.
I sampled it on a whisky flight and loved it instantly.
Easy to drink with a small amount of water.

It's like someone took a good Scotch and ruined it.
There is a good, even very good Scotch in there; honey, some pepper, a bit of hotness and body. And then someone ruined it with hop flavors. Inappropriate bitter notes where they don't belong. This was a well intentioned and very disappointing Christmas gift. I may have to lie about it and figure it out how to get rid of it. I know someone who might drink it.

Lacks oomph.
Perfectly drinkable malt, smooth but really not very impressive as lacks any real complexity of flavours.

... Or is it Oban 14 Year Old
I was once told by a gentleman in the industry, you can often stumble on the same signature flavours in less expensive whisky, as the much beloved expensive one's. This particular whisky is the identical twin of Oban 14

Warm and reflective.
An excellent whiskey, smooth beginning with sweet undertones followed up by comforting after notes. The IPA addition did add a subtle addition. Overall a pleasant reflecting malt whiskey. That I would happily enjoy besides a warming fire reflecting on the days events.

A solid dram
A very good malt at a fair price, not sure I could taste the IPA at all but nonetheless a smooth malt with a fair bit of depth. Pleasant but not memorable, better than the 12yo offering though.

quaffing juice
Decent stuff. A sweeter and fuller Glenfiddich. I'm no fan of the 12 but like this as an everyday sipper. Fans of the 12 may be disappointed.
IPA influence is subtle so don't let that put you off or be the reason you buy it. Just a simple easy drinking, sweet whisky which, above all, is very enjoyable.

IPA Cask finish - really??
Glenfiddich 12 comes through on the nose with a background of citrus hops,. Decent mouth feel, again elements of the 12yo (for those who are familiar), then come the hops with dry citrus green hop. What follows is slightly odd... sugary sweetness which I wouldnt have though from an IPA.
Its not unpleasent but also its not really worth the £44 price tag, theres so much more at the price range and yes like others say you are heading toward the price of the 18yo.
The romantic side of me wants to believe that the IPA cask finish makes a difference but my head tells me they have simply thrown some hopes like 'cascade' or 'centennial' in the pre filtered process.
Worth trying with a Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA - I hought they complimented each other quite well.

One Dimensional
Compared with the 18, this whiskey is very one dimensional. The hops come out mildly, but there is a distinctive green/herby characteristic. These flavors persist throughout the sip with little change. However, it is very easy to drink and relatively smooth for a whiskey that's likely on the younger side - age unlisted.
Would have preferred to save the money and purchase an 18, but I can enjoy it.
