Glenfiddich 12 Bottling Note

Glenfiddich 12 is a smooth, mellow whisky with a hint of fruitiness and a long, lingering finish. It is an excellent choice for any occasion.

Glenfiddich 12 is also a great choice for those who are new to whisky, as it is not overly complex or challenging. Glenfiddich 12 has won many awards and is highly regarded by critics.

Glenfiddich 12 is aged for 12 years in American and European Oak casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Grain. Slightly floral, mineralic. Spirity, orchard fruit, malty, honey. Citrus develops.

Palate: Light, floral, spices. Very smooth.

Finish: Sweet, touch of oak and general fruit, oily.

Overall: Stereotypical Speyside. Consistent - a good benchmark.

Glenfiddich 12 Year Old Reviews

It is what it is.

It's a 12-year-old single-malt Scotch Whisky, alright.
Simple, plain, understated, classic.
Drinkable, easily. But not as exciting as SO many other options out there. Even from Glenfiddich.

Ah ah, I know what you're thinking. Did he drink six drams or only five? Well, being as this here's Glenfiddich 12, the most popular malt in the world, and one shot will blow your head clean off, you got to ask yourself one question. Do ya feel lucky? Well do ya, punk?

Bearable

Not tried this since the '80's, still find it inferior to other similar priced malts...is ok...but don't 'hit the spot' .

It's ok

Smells quite floral and light with bits of citrusy fruits, tastes very much how it smells with an obvious grassy note , youthful and lacking in any real depth, still bits of interest but overall very generic compared to others I've been trying.

The Gold Standard

I do not understand the poor reviews. Maybe I just always get a good bottle. My preference is for delicate, non-peated malts and this is my favourite. Delightful nose with honey, apples and pears and vanilla from the oak casks. These flavours carry through the taste and also the finish which has no burn at all. For me the quintessential malt.

Alright

It's fine; pretty reliable, also pretty boring. Really nothing to write home about - sure, there's honey, some orchard flavour and some saltiness, but it all seems a bit limp (which is not the same as light and delicate). A good whisky if you don't drink a lot of whisky, and want something decent in the drinks cabinet - also more versatile than Glenmorangie.

Buy it for what it is, not what you wish it were.

I reviewed this whisky two years ago and liked it.
I bought another bottle today and it seems similar: light, oily with a touch of salinity. The mouthfeel is pleasantly soft and buttery. I do believe however that the mention of sherry casks, which I am certain is technically true, is somewhat disingenuous. There is only the merest whisper of sherry here; the faintest aftertaste of a pale honey.
I can understand the disappointment of some reviewers who are looking for something "bigger", "meatier". But the tasting notes above are quite accurate. And there is certainly room in the vast realm of whisky for such a dram.
Now the question becomes... this or Glenmorangie?

Something has changed feels younger

Sadly not what it used to be even 3 years ago. Definitely the glenfiddich 12 has changed not only the label but the spirit i feel it more immature like being 8 yo. Lack of reasonable complexity that used to have, it's more grassy and characterless.

Average

Nothing special . Very light, spirity, medium finish.

10th September 2021

Nothing about it aside from burn

The pinnacle of generic malt
