Glenfarclas 10 Bottling Note

From the renowned Glenfarclas Distillery, this delicate whisky is a wonderful expression of the Speyside style. Matured in 100% Oloroso sherry casks, it offers far more complexity than you’d expect from a 10-year-old dram. A smooth, welcoming whisky that’s become the understated favourite in many a collection. Excellent as an aperitif, and excellent value.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Lots of juicy, sweet, sherry notes combined with malt and barley. Creamy hints of toffee give way to delicate honey, vanilla, and orchard fruits.

Palate: Delicious sherry sweetness and dried fruits, with complex, delicate winter spices and fruitcake. Light toffee, and a hint of smoke.

Finish: Long, smooth, spicy and fruity, with a touch of oak.

Glenfarclas 10 Year Old Reviews

Excellent

It was very good and I would purchase again.

No finer malt at the price

Excellent and great value.

Sherry

The sherry is very much present, especially in the palate. Great value as well.

Good price for a 10 yr old malt.

Can't say I agree with most of your reviewers, as I can't taste the sherry notes at all. I bought it as it was advertised as having spent all of its ten years in oloroso casks. Having said that still a good dram for the price.

If you like sherry this is for you.

Sherry is very much at the forefront in the nose, palate and finish. It's delicate and sweet which won't appeal to everyone (especially Islay fans) but sherry heads will find a lot to like here, especially at the price.

Sherry

Nice. Prefer this over the 12 year old.

Splendid stuff

I’ve read lots of banging on about Sherry in whisky but this is the first one I can actually taste it in. Smooth, sweet with the smallest touch of smoke. Makes me want to taste the more aged varieties from this distillery.

First Whisky i had tried in years

The very first Whisky i had tried for about 25 odd years, i am not normally a Whisky drinker by any means so my Review will be fairly basic. I tried Glenfarcas 10 on the advice of a customer in an Edinburgh Whisky Shop. He said Whisky is a matter of taste and it tasted really nice for me.
A slight sweetness and a pleasant nose and none of the after heat associated with blended Whisky i have tried in the past. Left a lasting pleasant aftertaste... i liked it so much i got a bottle to bring home.

It's like a glass of candy

I've only had one glass of this, but it's a bit sweet for me. It wasn't expensive, so I don't feel too badly about it, but I probably won't buy it again. I'm sure I'll have the bottle around for guests, since I probably won't have it often myself. Perhaps if I'm in the mood for dessert?
