The Revival has been revived! The GlenDronach's 15 Year Old Revival was a much-loved expression, though was sadly discontinued in 2015 by the distillery, citing lack of maturing stocks. However, stocks have been replenished and The GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival has returned to our shelves! Matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, this stuff is hugely flavoursome, aromatic and complex.
Please note: We're afraid we can't guarantee which vintage you will receive. It'll still be yummy GlenDronach no matter the vintage, mind!
Coffee beans, sponge cake drenched in sherry, mint leaf, slightly buttery, sultana.
Oily walnut, new leather, blackberry and apple crumble, toasted brown sugar and a touch of liquorice root.
Fresh ginger, waxy orange, caramelised dried fruit and a hint of cigar box.
Don't really no what to say about this. Not bad but not great either. No real strength on the nose and I wouldn't say it was packed with flavour either. Don't get me wrong there's something there but not enough to fork out 70 a bottle. Shop around
As my current bottle was almost finished I purchased a replacement. My preference of the Glendronach is definitely the 18 yr old Allardice even better to me than the 21 Parliament , both non-chilled. I have had a few bottles of the 18 and 15 however my last 18 was not as good as previous ones. Sad to say this has also happened with my "new" 15. Not as pleasurable as my "old". However, if I did not know what it used to taste like I'd still say it was not too bad if it wasn't for the price.
There is a lot of criticism around this bottle due to chill-filtration, etc. but let's be honest: for an intermediate whisky lover, this is still a very very good presentation. It is a bit pricey, but if you are a sherry lover you can't go wrong.
An amazing, complex and pleasing whisky. There have been some changes in the taste but not enough to warrant a bad review. This is a great whisky with all the notes required for a sherry cask fan.
Very sad that this whisky is now chill filtered and is made with different casks. A shadow of its former self.
