A beautiful Glendronach, distilled in 1989 and aged in a first fill Pedro Ximenez sherry puncheon for 20 years before bottling in 2010! Lovely stuff, and unusual too to see a PX cask used for an entire maturation. There are just 679 bottles of this stuff, and they're fabulous.
Nose: Deep, dark and redolent of sultanas, dates, sticky toffee pudding, prune juice, cigar leaves, blackberry syrup.
Palate: Big, bold and juicy. Mouth-filling notes of prune, stem ginger in syrup, balsamic vinegar, aniseed sweetness, black pepper and hazelnut spread.
Finish: Tangy, a mix of sweet and sour, hints of walnut and sugary lattes with berry fruit richness.
