13 year old single malt Irish whiskey, released by Glendalough. It's allowed to age in bourbon casks for its maturation, which results in waves and waves of caramel and vanilla notes...
Notes of thick vanilla pod, citrus peels and cinnamon.
Toffee pennies, dark chocolate, a touch of warming oak and a subtle fruity note as it develops.
Spicier on the finish.
My favorite Irish Whiskey. Smooth and comforting. The taste in comparison to the common Irish Whiskeys is remarkably distinct and well worth the price.
Lovely
forgot to score it.. yep, it's a 4.5 all the way.. shoot me like a rocket into space!
To anyone who says "it's smooth"... I really wish they'd just never review anything. There is no word more uninteresting and ambiguous than "smooth". Here's what you need to know about this whisky. The nose is beautiful, intense, rich, full, sweet, chocolate, fruits, candy, syrup, all the things that scream out "high quality". As you keep nosing after time, it opens up and just becomes better. The arrival has an impact, its attacking thanks to 2 things .. the 13 year cask maturation and the 46% abv. So quickly does it then evolve into a beautiful fudge and malt mid palette explosion. Sweet and mouth watering. In a word ... delicious. When you swallow, right after, that is the only *slight* downfall.. the finish does not live up to the beautiful nose and mid palette .. but the so quickly does the after taste evolve which becomes lovely. All in all, it is a winner. Money well spent, I might even prefer it to the mizunara finish because you get more of that ex bourbon nuanced character. Delicious stuff that is sure to please.
Just opened a new bottle I received from my daughter who is working in Dublin and brought this gem back to States and wanted you to know this is a smooth and great 13 yr old whiskey. Just love sipping it.
