Glencadam 13 Reawakening

Back in 2000, the Glencadam distillery was mothballed only to be reopened three years later in 2003. In 2017, to mark 13 years since the distillery reopening, Glencadam release this 13 Year Old expression, name The Reawakening. Only 6,000 bottles were produced.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Grassy malt leading into vanilla-rich fudge and lemon oil.

Palate Juicy pear and grapefruit. A touch of rye bread and marmalade. Peppery at points.

Finish Lingering cinnamon and poached fruit warmth.

Glencadam 13, batch 4.
I get almost agave / tequila notes on the aroma here.
Sweet, fruity, greenish. Summer fruits, grass.
- Yellow peas -

A lite style malt. Ephemeral and yet ebullient, if you take my meaning.

GlenCadam 13, brbn mtrd, 46%, UCF, no e150 - -
PICKLED lime rinds, gooseberries, sweet rhubarb. Lime juice and sugar. Red currants. Unripe tangerines. GRAPE juice. Green and red APPLES. Peppermint. Ferny / GRASSY notes, shrubs and summer rains. Bit of ginger. Sour unripe wild strawberries. Orange juice, very fresh citrusy apricots. Orange flavored licorice laces.
Pineapple. Crisp, clear PEAR / pear drops.

VANILLA, almost buttery. Cream. Sour cream. Pistachio ice cream. A touch of Bearnaise sauce: that would be chervil, tarragon, and I would also say shallot onions - that floral kind of scent you get from those. Violets, rose petals, think Barbaresco wine, or a Merlot. Almonds. Garlic bread. Tokaji or even Fino Sherry - a slight touch of that refreshing yeastiness (which fades soon after you've poured a dram).

Perhaps some other herbs as well: oregano, I think so. Thyme?
- - Oak comes through like a ~15~ YEAR OLD, very soft but complex. - -
Very aromatic. Fruity.
Scotch mist on full display.

PALATE is custardy and punchy, with white pepper, ginger, lemon juice and lime rinds.
Finishes with apples and pears, and sugary grapes.

Medium finish.

Go for the 10yo instead
It's good, but I like the 10yo better. Some classic bourbon oak characteristics - vanilla, fresh fruits (pears mainly). It is a little too oaky though, dry tannins from the oak. It rounds off with some fruity and spicy notes.

Warm toffee yumminess

Loved this whisky, really reminded me of the Compass Box Hedonism (sans over-the-top vanilla and hefty price tag).
On the nose: dried wildflowers, grain, shortbread.
On the palate: sweet toffee, very good balance of flavors/ aromas.
Finish: medium finish with lingering toffee / caramel.
After a few drops of water there are notes of nut, and sweeter toffee.
