GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Bottling Note

Batch 8 joins the growing line of celebrated GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength whiskies. For this edition, master distiller Billy Walker has chosen whisky aged in oloroso and Pedro Ximénez puncheons, and virgin oak and rioja casks. Bottled at a hefty 57.2% ABV with no added colour, and non-chill filtered, this Speysider is brimming with dried fruit character and nuttiness.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Nutty, sherry character, with dark, caramelised sugar, allspice, and dried raisins.

Palate: Warm gingerbread, cacao nibs, and cinder toffee, with a touch of liquorice.

Finish: Roasted spices, with drizzles of treacle.

Reviews for GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength (Batch 8)
If you like it strong and sherried you can’t go wrong.
This is everything you’d expect from the current Glenallachie. Slightly dirtier than I expected. Those dunnage/sherry notes. A mustiness dilutes the cloying sweetness leaving a well balanced barrage of fruits and wood flavours. Water brings out some of the jams. Tannic. Bold. A tamed flavour bomb.

Tasty, uncomplicated, handles lots of water
Tasty sherried heavyweight, lacking the sweet jamminess of the 15, instead the rioja maturation gives it a tannic edge. It takes water well!
