Glen Moray Port Finish

Glen Moray were one of the first distillery's to experiment with Port casks, with this epression joining their Elgin Classic range of affordable no age statement releases back in 2014. It's treated to an 8 month finishing period in Tawny Port casks before being bottled.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Creamy vanilla at the fore, joined by jammy redcurrants and blackberry. Toasted oak touches in the background.

Palate Butterscotch candies, golden barley and a touch of cinnamon. The port cask influence comes through with light notes of raisins and freshly picked red berries.

Finish Rather long, with honey, vanilla and a dusting of cocoa.

AN EASY AND NICE GO TO DRAM .
It's pretty much not bad at all . I would say a young-ish spirit 6 or 7 or 8 maybe. Not long enough in the port pipe though .
I would definitely buy it as another GREAT go to dram as with the Sherry cask which is the better of these 2 . It's a simple easy nice dram to have EVERY NIGHT beside the fire . Great value.

Amazing Value
The port cask finish added lovely richness to this otherwise pretty simple, pleasant Speyside single malt. I enjoyed this before I even got into scotches.

For the price .....
Four stars is definitely taking in to account the price . Nothing outstanding but to get some of the port Finnish I crave sometimes at under 30 dollars is pretty great . Simple flavors not a long finish but onc

Not bad for the money
I was actually pleasantly surprised by this one. I'd tried Glen Moray 10 year in the past, so when I saw this one on sale I thought I'd give her a go. Quite tasty for the price point and highly recommended!

Its young but enjoyable for the price
The Port cask finish has added a sweet fruity dimension to the young classic Glen Moray, an easy drinking Port Cask finished whisky which I cant fault at the price.

Great bang for the buck.
Yes, it's NAS and probably young, but I'll forgive that easily, considering it's an excellent dessert whisky. Very sweet. Vanilla and even slight fruity and chocolat-y notes on the nose. Caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon and spices on the palate. Excellent for such a low-price NAS.
