Glen Moray Classic Peated Bottling Note
A peaty expression joins Glen Moray's Classic range! Quite laid-back for a peated expression, but by no means lazy, this Speyside single malt Scotch whisky balances medicinal peaty whiffs with plenty of vanilla, orchard fruits and some floral, fragrant elements shining through along the way.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Apricot, roasted pineapple and hints of tobacco leaf.
Palate: Smoke never gets too intense, rather it remains in the background behind vanilla and orchard fruit.
Finish: A little bit peppery, though still enjoyably sweet.

Glen Moray Classic Peated Reviews
Nice. No... it's actually very nice.
Excellent Highland peated Whisky.
An absolute bargain, although it's not as complex as the Ardmore Legacy, it hits the spot with nothing more than an ice cube. Nice to see another peated whisky from the Highlands. After all, all whisky used to be peated, back in the day.

Great value, big in peat
C.: Bright golden
N.: Light and fresh in the beginning, citrus notes, late sandalwood incense and chemicals (floor maintenance). A hint of white pepper and tobacco ash, too.
P.: A surprisingly robust and solid entrance for 40%, nifty peat, brown sugar and bitter lemon, burnt wooden embers.
F.: Long and moreish, like having smoked a good cigar.
Conc.: Solid and simple as a good peated Highlands malt should be. Can't really compete with Islay drams (not as complex), but, hey, I think it doesn't want to.

Very solid Highland peat, great value
C.: Bright golden
N.: Light and fresh in the beginning, lemon peel, citrus, some chemicals, floor maintenance, sandalwood incense and cigar ash.
P.: Strong and convincing entrance, lets you guess for more than 40%, later a subtle sweetness (brown sugar), bitter lemon
F.: Rather long, peaty and bitter wooden. Like having smoked a good cigar.

Fantastic :)
Great treat if your after a peated whiskey, I didn't expect it to be so peated. Almost Laphroaig/Ardbeg level. Great stuff :)

Very good value for money.
Received as a gift. Was not impress with its colour and bottle design. When I opened it. Super Surprise. It has a good nose. 1st sip -
Slightly smokey, good variety of notes. (Too) Sweet aftertaste. About 60% smoothness. Very nice. Suits my taste very well.
When I found out the actual price. It’s really very good value for money. Ordered 3 more bottles.

Pleasant aroma and taste
Nice single malt and a real bargain at the price. Good choice for those looking to try varieties of Scotland's whisky. This is NOT for the water it down and mix with cola crowd!

Garbage.
Tastes like Dettol. Undrinkable. Would pour it down the drain but I’m concerned about the environment, will maybe use it in the summer (if we get one )to fire the bbq logs up. Foul tasting hooch.

Decent, but peat-heads need not apply.
Very, very light peat smoke - as an Islay drinker, it was almost indiscernible.
This whisky is delicate in flavor and light in body. I detect some vegetal notes on the nose, with lemon sweets and a bit of soot.
On the palate, I get vanilla buttercream icing and lemon cake with that subtle, slightly ashy and medicinal peat far in the background. Water reveals something of melon as well. Simple, but tasty. The smoke becomes more evident on the finish, after the other flavors have subsided.
I preferred the unpeated Classic, as it had more complexity and body. I don't recommend water in this whisky - at least not very much - as it is a fragile, delicate dram. Not bad for the $22 US I paid for it.

Does the job for me
I think this is an excellent whisky for the price point even if it's used for a hot toddy once in a while. I recently picked up a bottle for under 20 quid which not far away from the supermarkets own branded whiskies. I cannot compare a £50 bottle of Lagavulin 8 to this but I find it very similar in alot of ways just not as much peaty goodness as the lag 8. It's alot more subtle but that's a good thing sometime, there's obviously a reason why the difference in price. I liked it that much I picked up a second bottle for a daily dram
