Glen Grant - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

The first batch of That Boutique-y Whisky Company's bottling of Glen Grant single malt Scotch whisky features Major James Grant, a previous owner of the distillery, out on a hunting trip. The Major was a bit of an eccentric that liked his technology - the Glen Grant distillery was one of the first in Scotland to be lit by electricity and the Major also enjoyed that novel invention, the motor car.

However, when it comes to hunting crocodiles, as he did on his big-game hunting trips to Africa, no newfangled technology could compete with dynamite for Major Grant! Legend is that when the hunting crew came across a pond with crocodiles lurking in the water, the Major would wrap three or four sticks of dynamite together and chuck them in the water. Boom!

"delivery of the day so far: a starburst of ultra clean salivating malt...wow!!"

    - Jim Murray (91 Points)

    138 numbered bottles were released.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts, blends and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A base of fragrant cereal with cooked apples and pecans, perhaps in a pie together, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with crushed nuts.

    Palate

Subtle honey and nuts with cereal, a bit like Crunchy Nut. There's hints of oak and barley here to enjoy too.

    Finish

The oak develops on the long finish with plenty of spice. Golden cereals.

    Overall

A sweet, nutty single malt from Glen Grant. You'd better snap some up quick before every bottle says "See you later, alligator" or "In a while, crocodile."
