Glen Grant 31 Year Old 1964 - Lost Bottlings Series (Master of Malt)
This is a rich, intense Speyside single malt, aged in top-quality sherry wood before bottling. It was distilled at Glen Grant in 1964 before a 31 year maturation. It was then bottled in October 1995 and comes from our Lost Bottlings Series - a range of whiskies bottled many years ago, affording connoisseurs the chance to try single malts from a bygone era of production.
"By 'eck! Sherry butts like this haven't been seen in Scotland for quite a while, believe me."
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Heavily sherried, thick aromas of Cabernet Sauvignon and cassis. Hints of fresh plum and baking spices.
Palate
Beautiful delivery of sherry notes, with a core of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove. Thick berry fruits and hints of dried banana chips. Malty.
Finish
Long finish with dried apricot, 70% cocoa dark chocolate, a little tawny port and a struck match!
Overall
Very rich, this whisky just keeps on developing in the glass, unveiling more and more...
