Glen Grant 12 Year Old Bottling Note

A 12 year old Glen Grant single malt, launched in mid-2016 with a rather sleek and handsome new bottle design. Still shows off the classic Glen Grant style - honey'd malt, sugared almond and ripe apple notes galore!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Orchard fruits open it up, with orange and apple. A touch of pastry and a dusting of icing sugar.

Palate: More rich, sweet red apple notes. Golden barley in the background.

Finish: Touches of almonds last on the finish.

Glen Grant 12 Year Old Reviews

Fair but not great

To strong taste of alcohol that stops most of the other flavours coming through, very weak colour, my Mrs got me the bottle in Italy on the way home from holiday so maybe has something to do with poor quality

Very good!

A wonderful whisky! Fabulous fruity flavours, complexity, and very quaffable. The tasting notes from MoM are pretty accurate. The nose opens with apple strudel, while candied orange develops and layers over the top. The fruity notes continue on the initial palate, with oak developing through the mid. The finish is medium/long with sweet marzipan giving way to a dryness closer to roasted hazelnuts.

Mister Kubo Likes It.

I feel a whole lot more like I do now than I did yesterday.

Great for the price!

This Whiskey is pretty much what I was expecting. Good all around Whiskey for the price. I can't say I am as partial to this 12 year old as some others like Glenlivet. But this is definitely worth the money. Good budget scotch with a pretty good taste.

Top Notch Single Malt at Blended Price

Exquisite liquid at a superb value. Beautiful orchard fruits, marzipan and toasted almonds. A little too easy to drink!

Just ok

I've never bought anything from this distillery just because it sounds too tame and to be honest after drinking some of this I still feel the same. It's a nice light bodied spirit with some honey orchard fruits and flowers but only little hints of these and it's a little soapy and young tasting with a short lived finish. I'm just not impressed but it's not bad it's just kinda boring. Probably won't buy again. The Sugarbear

Wow!

Normally I'm way more into the (heavily) peated whiskies, but when I visited Scotland this summer and did a tour at the Glen Grant's distillery (which should be on your list for it's beautiful garden anyway!) I've tasted this 12y Glen Grant. I was blown away by it! So delicate, yet so much taste. Firey like pepper, but still the typical Glen Grant style. I don't really care much for the Major's Reserve (I've had it for quite a while now, can't seem to finish the bottle), but this 12yo really made me change my mind about Glen Grant.

Improved

Really got into this whiskey compared to the 10yr one they had improved everything

14th December 2016

Not a bad whisky

It really improved throughout the years like this 12 year a lot

13th December 2016

It got better

I want to rectify my previous comment. Somehow the whisky got better after some days.
Its very good actually, but feels a bit thin. My guess, chill-filtering.

Maybe I bought bad batch/bottle

First time I taste a Glen Grant, I was expecting a great whisky. Maybe my batch is not good.
When I opened the bottle it made a considerable pop sound (high pressure), then the liquid didn't make any legs in the Glencairn, no legs at all. In the mouth the alcohol was abnormally high.
The nose is great, I get the apple, cinnamon, toffee etc, but I'm sure there is something wrong with it.
What a dissapointment.

Subtle but Superb!

Lovely fresh nose! Very smooth on the palate with lots of depth of flavour. Like this one a lot!
