FEW Single Malt Bottling Note

A single malt from the excellent FEW Spirits, the craft distillery that settled down in the home of Prohibition, Evanston, Illinois. Taking their name from Francis Elizabeth Willard, who championed the temperance movement with the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, we've been wishing for the day when they produced a single malt.

From the first waft of the nose all the way to the lingering finish, this little beauty is rich and endlessly comforting. It's like dark chocolate and Ovaltine met and created a gorgeous single malt, the most wonderful love story never written.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sugary vanilla fudge, salted caramel ice cream. Green apple too, with thyme honey and spices: garam masala and turmeric. Dark chocolate winds its way throughout.

Palate: Red apple now along with more fragrant exotic spices on a chocolate Flake.

Finish: Oak, spicy caramel, Ovaltine and chocolate.

Overall: Delicious! Hats off once again to FEW Spirits.

FEW Single Malt Reviews

Absolutely Dreadful. Avoid At All Costs.

Will keep the review short and to-the-point; this is by far the worst “whisky” I have ever drank. Smells horrible and tastes even worse. Don’t waste your money on this.

Horrible, horrible, horrible (...)

You will never find this nose and/or taste in any other whisky as far as I know.
Noes is pure wood lacquer + thinner, and thats it!
Tastes is if somone wants to kill you.

Godawful.

Wet straw on the nose, very wet and musty in fact. Remember as a rabbit owning child you’d open the lid of a tin containing the food: pellets, flakes and grain, well it’s that on the nose !
As for taste, nah....it’s just awful.

No thanks

I’m a huge Islay fan, so am used to drinking drams that many people resort to chucking down the sink. This, though, I am close to plug-holing. The nose instantly had me recoiling. If I had to pick two words out from the MoM description, I would pluck out ‘turmeric’ and ‘fudge’. Combined. Find me someone who would eat turmeric fudge and I will give them this whiskey. The palate continues the cruddy confectionery theme and melds into wet cardboard that’s been dampened by a muddy puddle. Short finish and a long period of disappointed contemplation. Not for me. Thank the Highland heavens that I only bought a 3cl teaser.

Fascinating

Big and bold, with more than a whiff of new wood, but quickly overcome by peaches, plums, and other stone-fruit. Delicious.

Whisky or Whiskey?

Is it spelt 'whisky' because it's made from 100% malted barley, even though it's made in the US?
