Nose: A good balance of sweet oak, tickling cinnamon and smooth vanilla.
Palate: Dried apricots, toffee apples and some woody spices.
Finish: Fairly long. The spices linger happily, as does a glimmer of the sweetness.
Overall: A great vintage. Surely one that people will nose indulgently.

You can usually find this for at most $30. Great whiskey for the price.

Day 3 of the advent calendar brings up the first Bourbon and boy does it makes it's presence felt.Definite vanilla and oak on the nose entice you in, then the alcohol gives you the sucker punch. At 43% this has a kick to it. The flavours are initially overwhelmed by the alchohol but once that subsides you are left with a christmas pudding spice mix with some sweetness and burnt sugar at the end.I'm not a huge fan of Bourbon and sadly this doesn't really change that as it lacks both depth and subtlety and the alcohol kills all but the the last vestiges of the flavours.

VANILLA! The strength of the vanilla in this fine bourbon was SO powerful.A great musky nose, woody palate and a lovely cinnamon finish.
Lovely. Thanks Whisky Santa for the dram!
This bourbon is an absolute steal at $30 here in the U.S. Big, sweet cherry and vanilla aromas, with all sorts of spices and other fruitiness going on. The main complaint, as usually is with bourbons, is that the ABV is a little low. The flavor is great, tasting what you smell, but it's a little weak for my tastes. At 50%, this would be an absolute monster. I've personally added a dash of Stagg Jr. (132 proof) to my glass and it turned this into possibly the best glass of bourbon I've ever tried. Heaven Hill needs to beef this whiskey up, but it's still one of the best deals on the market.
