Evan Williams Extra Bottling Note

A darkly hued sour mash bourbon, aged for seven years. Rich feinty flavours like leather, vanilla and toffee. Very enjoyable.

Evan Williams Extra (43.3%) Reviews

not to shabby

Pretty good value for the money. Nose of honey and coconut. A little woody and oily on the pallette. But it's a good mixer or a good enough sipper. Prefer to jack definetely. Hard to find in Canuckistan where I live.

Superb value

This is, quite simply, the best value bourbon I have ever come across. Easily good enough for use in an Old Fashioned or Sours, but not so expensive that you wince when adding a mixer. Excellent product.

A go to bourbon!

You will not go wrong with EW. Makes a great mixing whiskey and also works as a stand alone - although I do prefer it on the rocks with a splash of the H2O. Easy on the wallet, great on the palate! - Los Angeles.

The first drink, I go neat btw, peeled the paint off the roof of my mouth. Once the initial punch faded, this is a fine Bourbon, and a steal at the price. If you mix, you could make this last a while. having gone straightjacket on the glaciers- I polished my gallon sized bottle by the end of the week.

As good a value as it gets

Amazing that this bourbon costs so little. It's not complex or refined, but it's also simply good. Lots of caramel on the nose, in fact, pretty much all the nose is. Once you taste it you will get a lot more caramel/brown sugar with a dense and woody backbone. A bourbon that is sweet, strong, and a bit rough. Not much of a finish and I personally got no spice anywhere on the palate with this whiskey. Very different tastes when compared to the spicy and acidic tastes of Jim Beam and Wild Turkey. It's a very hard bourbon, so adding water and letting it sit a bit helps a lot. A bourbon that I prefer to many of the whiskeys that sit a shelf up from it.

Tried this at 51% bourbon (Leeds) on my stag do

This is their house Bourbon - and it's great. Much much better than JD.

Richard Murfin reviews Evan Williams

Lower priced bourbons get a lot of stick from "connoisseurs" of the whiskey trade. Let me say Evan Williams is a superb bourbon. Its balanced and very drinkable. Its also great when mixed. It has a sharp nose consisting of leather and spice. The taste is brown sugars and caramel. The finish is shortlived but also spicy and sweet. Why Jack Daniels is predominant in the market when gems like Evan Williams exist I really dont know. Great lower priced bourbon.
