Evan Williams is a single cask bourbon from the Jim Beam company, this 1997 vintage is the most recent bottling from the range and won a Silver Medal at the 1997 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is quite sweet and smooth. There are notes of crème anglaise, vanilla milkshake, aniseed, a touch of zesty orange and a lovely sultana note. The palate is of good body with an effortless sweetness. There are notes of winter spice, particularly freshly grated cinnamon, there are hints of creamy vanilla fudge and a fruity note. The finish is of good length, the sweetness and the spice cling to each other in a fervent embrace.
