Edradour 10 Bottling Note

Edradour is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries and at the heart of the range, this 10 year old Eastern Highlander is a rather unique single malt, a decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. The distillery’s methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years, and we can see why. If it ain’t broke and all that. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks. This is one sherry monster and we love it.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Medium, great complexity. Thoroughly fruity, sherry, sweetness, alluring vanilla.

Palate: Cloying, seductive murkiness. Rum, barley, toasted almonds. Some may find themselves lost in the mêlée, not quite enough method to the madness.

Finish: Any confusion is arrested: spiced fruitcake with crème anglaise.

Overall: An unusual malt.

Edradour 10 Year Old Reviews

A marvellous 10 year old whisky matured in an Olorosso

Absolutely wonderful.
Aroma: sugared, almonds, pencil sharpenings, caramel, tree bark, Seville marmalade, dried fruits.
Palate Neat: Sweet Seville, marmalade, sugared almonds, and figs. The only thing that should be added to this Whisky is more Edradour Whisky…

Try it...or you'll miss out on a real treat.

Top class old-fashioned style whisky from a distillery who know what they are doing.
Very tasty complex & interesting expression. Well deserved 9/10!

A new favourite for me

Currently working my way through my first bottle. Its different but in a good way. This is going to be a favourite of mine for sure. If you enjoy sherried whiskies this is excellent.

Absolutely love this whisky. Sherry bomb for sure, sweet , well balanced. Excellent for the price ! Perhaps my favourite Sherry influenced whisky.

Nothing less than 5 stars

To be quite honest my first impression was not great, but it improved with a touch of water and the longer I held the glass the better it became. Now it’s nothing less than 5 stars.

Wonderful sipper.

Sherry and complexity in abundance. Great value and quality for age and price point.

super duper stuff.

ive been a fan of edradour for a long time. its different to most in that its worm tubbed, and that can cause a marmite moment for some.
agree mostly with mom, its a bit like rum fruitcake. smooth and rewarding but too easy to drink.

tasteless

well what can I say about this bottling? I first had Edradour 10 about 8years ago and really liked it, it was very heavy in mouthfeel, sweet and full of fudge and toffee/caramel flavours. colour was a nice mid gold. Fast forward 8 years and when this arrived home I took it out of the tube and was faced with the darkest natural colour whisky Iv'e ever had in my life, it was the colour of coka cola! I thought it would be really deep in dried fruit flavours but sadly I was very disappointed. It has an excellent mouthfeel for a 40% abv, a fairly decent nose but I have to say almost zero flavour. I tried this over the next 4 weeks and finally gave up and binned it as I'm not going to drink something I'm not enjoying .I don't know whats changed but it's not for the better and will not buy again.
