Tailfire is one of two no age statement single malt Scotch whiskies released for the Singleton of Dufftown range in 2014 (the other being Sunray). In tune with the berry red label, the Tailfire is a fruit-laden expression, with a high proportion of the whisky coming from European Sherry casks.
Crisp apple, red grape, raspberry and candied orange peel all jump out. A grassy green note and Wensleydale & Cranberry maintain balance whilst a touch of tobacco develops over time.
Raspberry bush, more Wensleydale. Oats, vanilla and a hint of pepper.
Drying and hot <del>rod</del> with lip smacking fruitiness.
A vibrant, berried Singleton with enough depth to keep you interested.
Good whisky, preferred this over their 12. Wish they'd make some more.
5star definitely. Apple, raspberry, cranberry, banana and cream cakes develop. Take a deeper sniff and lemongrass and spice appear. Palate fruity with some wood, light damp wood, gooseberry is there. A weaker finish but sweeteners remains well
Good oaky nose, autumnal breeze a crisp leaf quality with fruity overtones; not uninteresting.
Very very. Enjoyed sipping it straight (No mix)
An enjoyable whisky with a somewhat boring character. The sherry finish isn't really evident, contributing very gently to the aroma and adding very little to the flavour.
