A limited edition release of Timorous Beastie from Douglas Laing, made with whiskies aged for at least 21 years, and featuring plenty of delicious Sherried notes too! Just like the classic Beastie, this is not quite as timorous as the name suggests - it's a big, bold, brilliant blended malt! 2,718 bottles were produced.
Nose: Cinnamon, dried fruit and a full-bodied core of malt.
Palate: Thick waves of sweet Sherry, with layers of nutty malt and ground Christmas spices underneath.
Finish: Fruit and nut chocolate bars. Warming oak spices linger.

With Timorous Beastie 21-year-old, the gifted people of Douglas Laing have avoided the trap - into which some cheaper sherried whiskies fall - of producing merely an over-alcoholic sherry. This is a proper Scotch whisky, a superb and gentle blend of 21+ year-old malt whiskies from the Dalmore, Glengoyne, Glen Garioch and Blair Athol distilleries, with wonderfully rich and warming flavours of dried fruits, raisins, honey, a tickle of Christmas spices and a wisp of aniseed. Wonderfully smooth, soft and mellow. As with Timorous 18yo, the deft hands of Douglas Laing’s craftsmen are readily recognisable, but the two whiskies are completely different. This one is for the deepest, darkest, coldest nights of winter, to be treasured in front of a glowing log fire. Just lovely.Incidentally, for those who might be interested, the best tasting notes that I’ve come across for Timorous Beastie 18 and 21 yo (and many other whiskies) were written by Dr Heinz Weinberger, whisky-blogger par excellence (and a huge fan of Douglas Laing).
