The famous Dewar's blend aged for 18 years then married in a vat for an extended period, hence the name 'Double Aged'.
Dry, grassy, hay; faintly scented with cloves and smouldering gently in the sun.
A freshly opened pack of oatcakes ever so lightly smoked over a peat fire
Biscuits and fresh cut grass.
This is an easy drinking malt with grass and hay on the nose and biscuits on the palate.
An EXCELLENT Scotch. This proves that you can get what your pay for. I had always drank single malts. I lived in the '' Glens " for many years. Now my son and I where watching TV, Dewar's put on its ad for the 12 year old. My son, a Vodka Drinker, asked what was the deal was with the aging. I gave him my best Novice explantion, including single malts and blends. He asked if I'd try the 12 year old, I said I'd spurge and try the 18 year old. Well about a week later I get home from some business, which included Washington DC Traffic. I flop down in the closest chair. My wife tells me my son left something on the table for me. It was a bottle of the 18 year old. My Son knows his Father. I always got good cigars from my daughter till I quite smoking. I grabbed The bottle, one of my best glasses and some ice. I cracked it open, poured it over a couple cubes and tasted. all the frustration of the day went away. This was excellent, I was a happy camper. Its my main go to now.
This was very nice. Smooth and easy to drink. Difficult to find now.
I just picked up a bottle of this at a local store. They had it marked down to $61 and so I had to have it. I love my Islay/Island scotches and so I was hesitant about purchasing this bottle. BUT, I am glad I did. I think this one is slightly better than Glenlivet 18. You can definitely taste the oat and there is a very subtle smoke that rolls off the tongue. The presentation box is perhaps one of the best I have in my collection. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a bottle of this nice, smooth whisky.
