Dailuaine 16 Year Old - Flora and Fauna Reviews

Smooth like silk . . .

Outstanding in every way. And, I agree, let's keep this one quiet . . .

Keep this secret Dailuaine is a fine dram !

I made this discovery 2 years ago and have kept quiet until now. A smoothly classic Speyside with more body than most , a nice history around the brand but hard to find in retail so buy it when you see it - or better still order it here !

Hide this from the masses

Can everyone please stop giving this 5 stars? Before we know it, it will double in price and sell out. I wanted to give 1 star to throw people off the scent but in good conscience, I just can't.

This is a very fine whisky and has become one of my regular favourites. Well balanced, smooth, tasty and good value for money.
This is one of the few whiskies that I introduce to my whisky hating friends and they enjoy it.
Keep it on the down low!

Smooth. Gorgeous dram.

I bought this at the distillery in Pitlochry. Fabulous dram. Well worth a try!

Absolutely a favorite.

Rich and flavorful. Long complicated finish. Sweet but not overwhelming.

Really great mature speyside malt

Terrific find...wonderful nose...and slips down it completely out of the blue at cragganmore distillery...

The True Revival

I would put 10 stars if I could. I discovered this dram more than 1 year ago and I would like everybody to remain silent about it. It's a wonderful dram while everybody is speaking about some Revival stuff (if you see what I mean...), Dailuaine 16yo is just the right stuff. Fruity, Xmas cake, very well balanced. Even the warm orange colour is delightful!! Well, don't tell it to anybody.... Let's keep it among us...

Lovely Dram

A lovely sherried whisky, full flavoured, rich, sweet and well balanced. A new favourite of mine.

Just finished my first bottle and about to order a new bottle. Fruity and sherry flavours. Now one of my favourite whiskies

A little thin

Found it a little thing to be honest. Got the sherry and fruit but not overly blown away. But I am a very early stage amateur so take my review with a pinch of salt

Tried this in a hotel in Speyside, rather nice and full flavoured and nutty.Quite Aberlouresque in its flavours, but very good in its own right. Highly advise to try this 16 year old!

Love this Dailuaine

This is the third of the Flora & Fauna series I have tried, and the best so far. On the nose was orange peel and butterscotch.
On the palate right off was caramely richness, and a bit of cereal.
Long finish with nuts, a mild smokiness, and oak.
Opens up to a little fruit brandy taste after adding a few drops of water. Very enjoyable.

One of the best value single malts

I tasted this while in Scotland and I'm happy to see it's available in the States on this site. This is one of the most balanced scotches I've tasted and one of the best value 16 year old single malts I've had. It's malt forward, a little nutty, with slight honey sweetness, and light smoke/very mild peat. I've poured it for many who claim to dislike scotch and they loved it.

If you like the idea of malted, sherried, lightly spiced Christmas cake, then this is for you

Mums (yum yum) - as my fellow Swede has already said.
If you like the idea of malted, sherried, lightly spiced Christmas cake, then this is for you – especially of an autumn or winter evening. However, pleasant as it is, I have to say I found the malt a tad overpowering, and the overall combination of malt, Christmas cake and sherry just a bit too soft and sweet. I’m not a fan of smoky, peaty, Western Isle’s whisky, but this Dailuaine was (for my taste buds) just a little bit too far in the opposite direction. Still much too nice to give it away, though 😊

One of the best

This is an awesome dram. So much finesse and such an amazing initial taste. It's hard to find but worth every penny.
Got to say pound for pound it's unbeatable ..... bit like Mayweather !

The Perfect Malt

I've had a bottle of this malt for more than 10years. Every person who has tasted it has commented that it is the finest whisky they have tasted. My wife even says it drinkable...and she hates whisky. Perfect in my own opinion-no harshness whatsoever. Buy this malt with confidence

Highly recommended

This really is a great whisky. From first pour to taste to finish it's a most enjoyable dram. This has a nice medium balance to it and certainly has that Glenfarclas edge to it. A perfect dram for a winters day.

A favorite

I'm generally less interested in Speys, but this malt has a fuller, more intriguing flavor to me. Smooth, nice finish, great lesser known malt.

Right up my alley

Thick sherry coat on this one, and the underlying spirit seems just as meaty as Mortlach, with more peat. A somewhat dry but full sherry flavor and a bit of farm. Reminds me a bit like Edradour and Glenfarclas, with a swell little peat blast in there.

Would buy again in a heartbeat, one of the best values still around. It's a shame Diageo seems to have released this with their standard "feature malt" presentation, at 43% with chill filtration and (probably, but hard to say how much) e150a coloring.

Mums, as we say in Sweden

I really liked this bottle. It's varm, a lot of oak, some spice and also nice sherried sweetness. Perhaps this won't be the crown jewel of your collection, but it's great value for money.

Brought a bottle after a tour of the Talisker distillary oddly enough. completely differant flavour to my usual preferance, im very much into my Laphroaig.
But this was Very smooth, and VERY warm, and whilst the sherry essence and the fruit flavours are right there from the start, they are not overpowering. Quite possibly my second favourite malt, and not that pricey either.
