Craigellachie '11 #900328 Bottling Note

A particularly intense Craigellachie single malt, independently bottled by the Whisky Illuminati. It was distilled in 2011 and left to age in a single first-fill Spanish oak sherry butt until 2018, when it was bottled at cask strength, sitting at 67.9% ABV. Only 100 bottles were produced.

These whiskies come from a single cask, but not all the whisky has been bottled. The rest of the whisky has returned to slumber in its sherry butt, to be bottled after two more years of rest. But again, that will only be a portion of the whisky, as the remaining liquid will once again enjoy further rest until finally being bottled. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Christmas cake and mulled wine! A good helping of toasted barley keeps it in the realm of whisky.

Palate: Chocolatey at first, before a kick of black pepper develops. Soon enough there are notes of burnt sugar, malt loaf and walnut.

Finish: Lingering nuttiness and Christmas spice.
