A great Craigellachie from Duncan Taylor's Rare Auld range. This is bottled at cask strength and is non-chillfiltered.
Nose: Oloroso sherry sweetness, tempered by leather and sugary orange notes. Some chocolate too, with walnuts and spice.
Palate: Mouth-filling richness like a well-pulled espresso that’s drier than the nose suggests, retaining a well-structured caramel sweetness with bitter marmalade, dark chocolate and maraschino cherry.
Finish: This goes on and on, with waves of dark chocolate, orange and ginger dispersing around notes of aged leather.
Overall: A very well balanced and perfectly tuned dram.
