Cotswolds Peated Cask Single Malt Whisky

Cotswolds Peated Cask Bottling Note

The Cotswolds Distillery has got its hands on some ex-peated whisky quarter casks and isn't afraid to use 'em! For the Cotswolds Peated Cask, the spirit is made using floor-malted Odyssey barley, along with Anchor and Fermentis yeasts, and the spirit is allowed to mature in ex-peated quarter casks, which are much smaller than your standard whisky cask. The casks impart a delicate smokiness to the whisky - it's not 'bonfire directly under your nose' style smoke, more 'distant fragrant fireplace' style, and it's really rather tasty indeed.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Toffee pennies, toasted sesame seeds, cinnamon sticks and sultanas.

Palate Apricot, apple and peach, followed by soft hints of sea salt and cedar.

Finish Honeyed malt, floral barley and final fleeting waft of spicy smoke.

Reviews for Cotswolds Peated Cask Single Malt Whisky
Full-Bodied, Young, Tingly but deliciously Fruity with a Silky Mouthfeel . Water cools and opens up a wonderful dram
Nose: Piquant. Shy smoky notes then BOO here I am, beautiful sweet smoke swirling with pear drops, vanilla, fruit wet moss and earthy peat. Strangely no overt prickle
Taste: So much to taste and adding about 5tsps of water really cooled the ABV /age heat. Chili Peppers and Nippy Ginger tempered with Floral, fruity notes. Bananas, pineapples, pear drops, sweet oranges and peaches. Creamy, silky milk chocolate encased in earthy, damp moss. Wonderful sweet bbq and gentle ash. The sweetness of the vanilla and Highland Toffees is not cloying as the fresh young wood notes bring it down a notch. Delicious
Finish: Medium. Bitter Sweet with the pear drops turning more to pears and red apples. Earthy, Fresh Wood and Gentle Ash

Lovely lightly smoked creaminess, delicious but a bit overpriced
This is really a very nice dram. Taste-wise I would go more with these tasting notes from another site:

Nose: Vanilla with light charring and a touch of dried fruits and spice.
Palate: Creamy peat smoke layered with light fruits and tannin-rich wood.
Finish: Lasting finish of smoking embers, floral honey and woody sugars.

Really enjoying it, but I can get drams I enjoy as much or more for around the £50 mark 4.5 stars for taste. 3.5 for price, coming out at 4.
