Coleburn 1981 Rare Old Bottling Note

The Coleburn distillery was sadly one of the many losses suffered by the whisky world during the 1980s - luckily, some independent bottlers continue to bottle the whisky which they distilled before their doors were shut. This Gordon & MacPhail Rare Old bottling of Coleburn single malt was distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2015. Collectible and exciting for whisky enthusiasts...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Vanilla rich from the outset, with a light, earthy, somewhat vegetal note of vanilla pod deepening this element. Citrus zest begins to develop a little later on.

Palate: A touch of dark chocolate appears alongside the rich vanilla. Soon enough, dried fruits develop too.

Finish: Greek yoghurt and a hint of old oak.
