Togouchi is a blended Japanese whisky from the producers Chugoku Jozo, who mature their whisky in a tunnel rather than a warehouse. The name comes from where the tunnel is located, in the town of Togouchi, which merged with two other towns to create a larger town called Akiota. This is their no-age-statement expression, the Togouchi Premium Blended Japanese Whisky.
I got a really nice vanilla aroma with a spiced taste on the pallet, I have to say I got a sample from a friend who got a bottle from here but I will be buying a bottle also
This one of the best Japanese whisky I tasted in awhile. Love the fragrant scent and the spicy jalapeño finish at the end. Hint of vanilla with touch of chocolate and honey. Highly recommended! Quality beyond quality.
Appearance: pale gold, low viscosity against the side of the glass. Nose: spirit, nutmeg, lightly spiced, fragrant Initial taste: liquorice, sweet, smooth Aftertaste: spirit, cereal, mild This is a different whisky experience and does not fall into any classification of Scotch I am familiar with. There is certainly a lightness and subtlety beyond the initial liquorice hit. If one is used to the heavily peated or sherried whiskies, Togouchi Premium is probably not for you. If approached with an open mind, it is worth a go. I enjoyed it and for a light variety of whisky, it offers more than some Scotches I could mention
Light with a strong hint of grain alcohol.
I would have to agree with the negative comments, I have a wide and accommodating approach to whiskey but this is truly awful. As one of the reviewers said, it is more like vodka.
