Caol Ila 8 Year Old 2010 (Adelphi)

Caol Ila 8yo 2010 Adelphi Bottling Note

An indie bottling of well sherried Caol Ila, which isn't something you see every day. Distilled on Islay in 2010, the single malt was then left to mature in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead for the following eight years, until Adelphi bottled the whisky in 2019. There was an outturn of of 307 bottles at 54.9% ABV, packed full of all those wonderful sherry notes. Just look at the colour!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Sweet sherry notes balanced by smoked, salty meats, with spiced, stewed apples and vanilla, porridge with apricot jam and swirls of peat smoke.

Palate: More sweet and fruity notes with a warming hit of chilli spices, fading into creamy vanilla and treacle, maritime peat smoke and a touch of grape skin.

Finish: Sweet malt, orange peel, bitter orange oil, burnt toffee and bonfire smoke linger.
