Caol Ila 5 YO 2010 #11073 Bottling Note

5 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Coal Ila distillery on the island of Islay, matured in a refill hogshead from December 2010 to March 2016. It has been bottled by Douglas Laing for the Provenance range.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Big, smoky and packed with tasty Caol Ila-style soot.

Palate: More smoke and soot, though with a little bit of creamy, vanilla-y malt peeking through.

Finish: Pleasingly peaty and long.

Caol Ila 5 Year Old 2010 (cask 11073) - Provenance (Douglas Laing) Reviews

Not your typical Caol Ila

Nose is sweet, fruity and floral with a hint of charcoal. Taste is citrus and light Peat with a touch of parma violets. Finish is ash and peat with a touch of rose. This is obviously a very young whisky from the taste, it's a bit rough around the edges and hasn't got any obvious ageing from the cask. A bit disappointing
