Caol Ila 27 Year Old 1984 - Old and Rare (Douglas Laing)

Caol Ila 27YO 1984 Bottling Note

This is a 27 year old, cask-strength Caol Ila from Douglas Laing's Old and Rare Platinum Selection. It was distilled in March 1987 before a single cask maturation (in a sherry hogshead). It was bottled in January 2012 and there are just 171 bottles available.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Rich spices and hints of soft sherry. A little peppermint, notes of dried herbs, allspice and malt.

Palate: Malty, creamy palate with hints of salted caramel, allspice, Seville orange marmalade, dates and ground mixed nuts.

Finish: Long finish. Quite oily and ever-so-slightly herbal.

Overall: A very interesting Caol Ila with a big influence from the sherry cask...
