Caol Ila 2001 (bottled 2014) - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon & MacPhail)

Caol Ila 2001 to 2014 G&M Bottling Note

A 2001 vintage Caol Ila single malt Scotch whisky, independently bottled by the fine folks at Gordon & MacPhail. A fab Islay dram, matured in first fill bourbon barrels and bottled as part of Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice range.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Plenty meaty, with apple, vanilla and subtle hints of herbal mint. Beneath this is (of course) wafts of classic peat.

Palate: Sweet peat heat, lemon zest, black pepper and rich smoke.

Finish: More smoky embers last and last on the finish.

Overall: Top stuff from Caol Ila, oh yes!
