Caol Ila 12 Year Old 2003 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)

Caol Ila 12 Year Old Bottling Note

12 year old Caol Ila single malt, bottled as part of our very own Single Cask Series! It was drawn from a refill Sherry cask which was filled in April 2003 and opened in September 2015, and has been bottled at 59.8% ABV. These bottles also feature our neat glass closures!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Oatcakes, figs and hot cross buns with salted butter. This develops into notes of stones on the seaside and toffee-dipped banana sweetness appears if you leave it for a few minutes.

Palate: Chocolate digestives, more oat cakes, red bean paste, sea shells and an oily touch of green olive. A little hot prickle of red chilli.

Finish: Thyme honey, minerals, soot and a touch of bubblegum.

Overall: An ace Caol Ila which shows great balance between sweetness and savoury coastal notes.

Caol Ila 12 Year Old 2003 - Single Cask (Master of Malt) Reviews

Rich and Roundy

Yeah - like this a lot. Very ashy, but rich with it. Reminds me a lot of the Feis Ile releases that have had extra finishing in pimped-up casks. Naughty.

My first MofM bottling & no disapointment. I often really like single cask refill sherry whiskys cos they're different, & this was very interesting. Not quite as awesome as G&M's 2004, but smoother, slightly fruity & very quaffable: i'd buy another if there was any left.
