Caol Ila 1984 (Gordon and MacPhail)

Caol Ila 1984 G&M Bottling Note

A limited edition sherry finished single malt from Caol Ila, just 280 bottles were released, distilled in 1984 and bottled in October of 2008 by Gordon and MacPhail, a beautifully balanced whisky from the Islay distillery.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is quite rich and full of coastal notes. The peat and smoke whirls with gentle persuasion, notes of dry ropes and seaweed, hints of wet stones and citrus. The palate is quite full and well-balanced. There is a gentle hint of feinty, leathery honeyed sweetness. Notes of unlit Robusto with a touch of dried kelp and tar. Seaspray and peat build. The finish is long and smoky with a kippery note.
