Burnt Ends Whiskey Bottling Note

Burnt ends - the sleeper hit of the barbecue world. Your brain might jump to Flintstone-sized racks of ribs and piles of pulled pork when barbecue is brought up, but those charred, smoky morsels are hard to beat. With that in mind, behold, Burnt Ends Blended Whisky! Inspired by the tasty goods served at the barbecue joints of the USA, this rich, meaty expression brings together smooth American rye whiskey and sherry cask-finished peated single malt Scotch whisky, all within a bottle that looks like it should hold barbecue sauce. It's meaty, smoky, rich and satisfying stuff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Deliciously rich and spicy with rye notes prominent. Massive hit of peat quickly overtakes the proceedings, with more than a touch of apple juice in the background.

Palate Epic. Barbecue sauce and smoky sausage all the way. The marriage of rye and peat hangs together perfectly.

Finish Long, smoky, lingering.

Overall A spectacularly put-together, highly unconventional whisk(e?)y which holds its own when sipped, but cries out for mixing.

Reviews for Burnt Ends Blended Whiskey
Disappointed
Young spirit is rather harsh. In my opinion this dram doesn't quite work. The bottle is quaint though. Probably better to spend your money on any of the core Ardberg range.

It’s Barbecue Night
Very interesting indeed. And hits all the notes and taste profiles you could want as a whiskey lover. There’s that sweet rye, that smoky island and sweet again Sherry finish. Sorts of rolls over your tongue and round your mouth like a drunk Dad late in the evening on barbecue night.

"Does what it says on the tin"... but you'll still think "it's magic"
If you're looking for different flavours in your whisky journey, this will blow you away. It definitely tastes of quality, and the BBQ sauce aftertaste, will make you smile, and then offer it around for everyone to try. Because it's so unexpectedly good... unless you hate BBQ sauce.

Cocktail joy
Nice straight and made particularly good old fashioned and sazerac cocktails

Tastes like drinking a campfire
Personally I thought this was really tasty and kept going back for more, but could see how this could be divisive.

Can't fault it at this price. Very clever blending.
Absolute bargain for a medium peated dram. It may not have the complexity some but at this price it's a top 5 for me. Certainly one I'll buy again.

Not all it could have been
The peaty Scotch this is blended with is too domineering for me. Its drinkable straight but not as interesting as i was expecting.

Just very different. Well worth a try.
I'm not sure why but i love it. I drink two types of whiskey: good whiskey and quaffing whiskey and this is one of the best quaffing whiskeys ever.

Worth the money for a taster, not for me though , I preferred the Filthy smoke , but know I know . Thanks MoM

Loved it
I wasn't sure about buying this as it seemed like a gimmick, but as i like trying all sorts gave it a spin and really enjoyed it, so much so i bought a 2nd bottle when on offer a few weeks later. It taste's exactly as described so i wont repeat it, and all i added was a teaspoon of spring water. forget the negative reviews, just give it a go. sure it's a little different to single malt, but hey !! that's what you expected when you clicked the buy button isnt it?
