This small batch bourbon is named after Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, an incredibly important figure in bourbon's history from the 1800s who owned a whole host of distilleries and innovated production methods which are still used today. It's only right that the Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch lives up to his name by being absolutely amazing.
Nose: Caramel apples, fresh corn and cloves. Butterscotch sneaks in after a while.
Palate: More corn sweetness, mixed with slight spiciness of rye and cinnamon.
Finish: Medium and very rich with creamy vanilla.
Overall: A really great small batch bourbon.

A great 'traditional' tasting bourbon great neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail. Given the taste profile this is truly a top notch versatile bourbon. And at my local liquor store in the USA, it's available for 40 bucks. It comes in an attractive cardboard tube (like many scotches) and makes a great gift. Too bad we Americans have to overpay for many scotch whiskies. I always have a bottle of this and Woodford Reserve in the bar because of how versatile they are.

If you see anything Taylor on the shelf, buy it. Period. It's the literal best bourbon for this price range, that isn't up for debate.

I found bottles of this for $35.00 so I bought one to sample on a Sunday afternoon. I went back the next day and bought a case. Its great on the rocks and is great in a syrup free old fashion.

I recently got my hands on a bottle and shared it with a few friends. They are mainly Scotch drinkers, but we ALL agreed that this was an outstanding drink! It's all here: vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, baked apples, butter, kettle corn, hints of sweet tobacco and chocolate. Do yourself a favor and grab a bottle...it's smooooooooth.

I have an open bottle of Pappy 10, I've had Pappy 15, and I've got a 23 that I'm finding hard to bring myself to open. This stuff is just as good as any of that. I may be wrong with what mash bills are what, but when I taste this, with an ice cube or just a little cold water, my experience is pretty much to par with any of the ultra premium stuff. This tastes like its aged for anywhere between 7-9 years, and its sweet, with flavors of oak, butterscotch, and fruit. PERFECT

The Colonel EH Taylor series are all exceptional whiskies, it just gauls me that what's $45 is £100 in the UK. I hope the price comes down soon.

I have tried many of the best bourbon and rye whiskeys produced in the great state of Kentucky. EH Taylor SB is the quintessential bourbon that I recommend to all non-bourbon whisky drinkers and novice bourbon drinkers looking to expand their understanding beyond the mass production brands. This is my favorite bourbon.quin·tes·sen·tialadjectiverepresenting the most perfect or typical example of a quality or class.

Amazing. Complex but not overwhelming, smooth, very smooth! Bufflao Trace continues to amaze me! Cheers!

If you're in the UK, and can't get this for US prices, I'd have to say that this is a great example of what Buffalo Trace can do. Great oak notes from the cask. Sweet and full of flavor. I have to say this is the bottle that made me fall in love with bourbon. For all the hype of the Van Winkle line, there is something special in this bottle as well. If you can get your hands on the Barrel Proof, it's also a gem. Either way, you get what you pay for here. At 50% ABV, it's a true expression of what Kentucky offers to the world!
