An early Port Charlotte single malt from Islay's Bruichladdich distillery, peated to 44ppm. This bottling is a blend of multiple vintages of this smoky whisky and offers an insight into how Bruichladdich may have tasted in years gone by.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
This is a battle between peat and spice. The smoke swirls around a battalion of pepper and cinnamon.
The smoke arrives first followed by an immense creaminess on the palate, then notes of sherbet lemon emerge.
The finish is fruity with just a hint of soot and nutmeg.
This is a whisky for the peat-heads and is a great example of what's coming out of Bruichladdich's peat project.
Very nice indeed, well balanced with both peat and smoke.
Every peat lover will like this spirit. However, do not expect a big peat hit. This is a fragrant, ethereal, spring/early summer peat, washed with mellow ocean breeze, zesty, flowery, multi-layered, sweet and tame, yet mischievous. Lovely, indeed!
This bottling is i many ways a successor to the Anturas Mor, however this one goes back to the Laddie roots, with lots of zesty, dense and creamy citrus notes that is almost "tequila-esque", how very bruichladdich. The Anturas bottling was closer, if anything to a good mellow young laphroaig minus the peppers. A very nice bottling of a series coming of age, lovely i say...
Yes, I'm a peat-head and a Laddie fan. So I couldn't wait until I got my hands on this one. I was not disappointed. I love peat, but I also like balance and complexity. I would not consider this a one-note peat bomb at all. Yes, it is smokey and intense, but there is also some citrus flavors with spice, and a nice gentle sweetness at the end. Really well done.
A lovely Whisky, a definite for peat lovers.
