Octomore 10.1 5 Year Old

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Octomore 10.1 5 Year Old to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that).

In the meantime, our friends over at The Whisky Shop might be able to help you out.

Thank you for your support and understanding 🙂

Octomore 10.1 5 Year Old Bottling Note

The first release from the Bruichladdich's Octomore 10 series, this expression was aged for 5 years in a selection of first-fill American whiskey casks (from the likes of Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace and Jack Daniel's). Not quite as absurdly peated as previous Octomore expressions, Bruichladdich says that it's exploring "a different realm of 'softer smoke'". It's still sitting at 107PPM, mind...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Bright stone fruit sweetness, with salty smoke slowly building.

Palate: Toasted sugar leading into charred oak and dried earth, but never knocking you over with a big blast of fiery peat. Tangy mango, peach and a little hint of honey.

Finish: Waxy peels, salted caramel and clove.

Octomore 10.1 5 Year Old Reviews

Nice but not worth the extra cost. Stick to Port Charlotte

Massive fan of Bruichladdich.
Especially the Port Charlotte which is only 40ppm. Aged 10 years.
I was given a tour sample of the Octomore 10.1 and was excited try.
Surprised at the colour being that pale.
Nose wise it appeared quite plain. Rather smokey taste which I was expecting and a long lingering aftertaste.
I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a bottle though.
I'll stick to the Port Charlotte. Its less than half the price. Tastes better and smells better.
I wouldn't say there's a distinction in peatiness

Very poor, tried a few Octomore expressions and this was flat and lacking in any significant flavour.

Having tried another Octomore a couple of years ago (6), was really looking forward to this..feel so let down.£100+ price tag is not justified on this whisky, much better drams for less money. I found it harsh & sour with little mouth feel, peat? meh. What has happened to this name ? not sure I want to risk another expression.

Savory and smoky.

Tuath gold showing deep gold and amontillado sherry. The nose shows intense notes of umami and smoked bacon. The palate is has a very light and soft peaty background with more on the finish. The mid palate shows intense smoked bacon and ham. No need for water.

Not what you expect!!!

Bruichladdich says that it's exploring "a different realm of 'softer smoke'".
That sounds interesting on paper, But in reality it feels like you've bought a Ferrari only to discover they are "exploring a new realm of farty little underpowered diesel engines" but you've still been hit with the same price Tag!!!
Very very disappointing... I will never buy another Octomore again. Unless they decide to put the big powerful engine back in the place I paid to have it.
...Bruichladdich, please, Go back to what you did best. Big powerful Peat!!
