Braes o' Glenlivet 21 YO Bottling Note

Braes of Glenlivet is now better known as Braeval after the distillery dropped the Glenlivet suffix in 1994 to avoid confusion with the nearby Glenlivet Distillery. The distillery is also the highest in Scotland with an altitude of 350m. This was distilled on the 23rd August 1991 before a 21 year maturation in a first-fill bourbon barrel. 251 bottles were drawn from the cask on the 28th November 2012.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Butter cream, fresh kiwi fruits and clover honey form a sweet and enticing aroma that draws you in.

Palate: The palate is reminiscent of cinnamon infused honey with the faint floral flavour of violets. Beyond this there are notes of lemon meringue pie and vanilla pods.

Finish: Insanely long and buttery with some clove and white pepper for spice.

Overall: This Braeval is incredibly creamy and honeyed. However, within this sweet flavour profile are subtle floral and spice notes which create a complex and intriguing dram. Lovely.

Braes o’ Glenlivet 21 Year Old - Single Cask (Master of Malt) Reviews

Pretty good

Nose: Full of malty sweetness and fruity notes: vanilla, mango, sweet apple, melon and some nice grassy notes. Very suptle.
Palate: More powerfull then the nose but very balanced, with berries and a light peper added to the fruit of the nose.
Finish: Indeed long and spectacular, with peper, milk chocolate and a hint of mint.
We tasted this with 3 people and all were very ok with this. A fine dram for a very honest price.
