Bowmore No.1

Bowmore No.1 is produced using single malt Scotch whisky drawn exclusively from first-fill bourbon casks, imparting a creamy sweetness which blends well with the robust Islay smoke that Bowmore is known for.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Nutella on brown bread, sea salt and a hint of lemon zest.

Palate Vanilla notes are up front and sweet (though earthy vanilla pod does appear after a minute). Plenty of coastal peat smoke.

Finish Lingering smokiness.

Reviews for Bowmore No.1
Great for the price
Some of the reviews seem a bit unfair for me. With any whiskey you have to consider everything including the price. Sure there are far better ones you can get, but like everything in life its relative. You can get (and I'm sure we all have, when we've lost all logic and paid a fortune for a real classic), some fantastic whiskeys. But overall and taking everything into account, this is a damn fine one for the price. Its a nice smooth drink, and I'd buy again.

Ok for a Islay fix , but nothing to write home about
Cereal notes with hints of smoke and light peat . Usual citrus on the palate and lingering finish . Ok for £20 but it's just a marketing seller for Bowmore to churn out NOS whisky like Laphroaig select !

Lacks body.
Disappointing. Weak, lacks body. If you like islay offerings, don’t try this. You will be disappointed

I'm being generous with 0.5 out of 5
Why would a distiller of one of the best and most subtle of Islay malt whiskies pretend that maturing it in Bourbon casks could be anything but a disaster. Would you buya bottle of highland spring water if you thought it had been bottled in unwashed CocaCola bottles? Why does everything have to taste of something else these days? The lunatics have taken over the the factory here.... and the Bowmore board. They say there's no such thing as bad whisky. True. This isn't bad... it's vile.

A truly beautiful whisky
I have no idea what some of these negative comments are on about. It is the sweetest, full flavoured whisky that I have tasted. Pure heaven. Vanilla sweetness, cinnamon spice and oak smoke beautifully complement the mouth watering citrus, honeycomb and coconut flakes, culminating in a peat smoked, bourbon, vanilla and lime finish.... what is there not to like. I love it.

Not good
Just not good enough. There is some good stuff in this to appreciate, but overpowered by a harsh mentol note (cheap alcohol). If this is meant to be a warm introduction to the brand, it fails. I hope that Bowmore will up there game on this NO.1. Honest reviews help with that, so this is mine. Cheers x

Good value, easy drinking malt
Sweet toasted oats, citrus at the seaside, vanilla and fruitcake, soft gentle smoke, not in your face, this is an easy malt to like.

Carbolic
First sniff of this reminded me of Izal medicated toilet paper, and now I can’t drink it without that in my mind. Carbolic acid smell. Will have to mix with something to get rid

Sweat and smokey but lacking full flavour
This one wasn't really for me. Sweet and lightly smoky on the nose but had horrible burn and not a very long after taste, was really missing the depths of flavour I was looking for on this, I paid £30 for a bottle but I wouldn't pay again unless it was on offer maybe
