Blanton's Straight From The Barrel - Barrel 77 Reviews

Stunning

This is a truly stunning whiskey. I have had the Original in the past and found it to be very good. I would put this in the top tier of bourbon. At under £100 it is a bargain. My bottle is from 2014 and barrel 392. It comes in at 65.8% AVB. This is evident from the smell. It punched me in the face. However, there was evidently depth of flavour once the alcohol hit passed. Lots of tobacco, honey, butter, lots of spice, leather and rich oak.

Once I added a drop of water and let it stand for 20 minutes the flavours opened up. The finish is long with a developing citrus flavour. It is beautiful. As it is so strong the bottle will last a long time. But I think I will buy another one the next time I see one. It is that good. It is worth the extra £30 easily. The depth of flavour compared to the Original is different by orders of magnitude.
