A 12 year old single malt from the Blair Athol Distillery up in the Highlands, distilled back in 2008 and allowed to age in a first-fill sherry cask. After a dozen years of maturation, it was independently bottled for the Mey Selection with a release of 150 bottles, presented at 53% ABV.
Nose: Stewed tea, a touch of peat warmth, with damson jam in support.
Palate: Leads with gristy barley, evolves into chocolate Hobnob biscuits and strawberry laces.
Finish: Peppery malt, a smidge of coffee bitterness.
