Berry Bros. Sherry Cask Bottling Note

The team at the legendary independent bottler Berry Brother's and Rudd specially selected a blend of sherry cask single malts to create this classic example of a well-sherried Scotch whisky.

It is one of the four offerings released as part of The Classic Range which was launched in the spring of 2018. It's great value for money and should be a treat for those who love a big sherry bomb.

Berry Bros. & Rudd Islay

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Blood orange juice, brown sugar and dried fruit lead with a hint of charred pineapple and perhaps some rancio.

Palate: Black fruit compote, herbal tea and a little bitter dark chocolate. Seville orange marmalade and fiery cinnamon add depth.

Finish: Christmas cake notes remain.

Berry Bros. & Rudd Sherry Cask Matured - The Classic Range Reviews

Taken by suprise

I bought this on a whim, normally I'm a dedicated peat monster.

I had a splash and a whole new world opened before me. Intense flavours yet balanced as a whole

A very drinkable bottle and a pleasant change to the Islay malts I'm a fan of.

Not great

If anyone calls this a bomb it's pretty obvious they haven't been anywhere near proper sherry munitions (dronach, farclas, aberlour et al)

Never tried a blended malt until this .
Let it sit for a minute or 2 then let it warm up . By the time you've reached the last sip it's a bar of dark coffee toffee chocolate .
At this price buy 2 .

An undoubted and unashamed sherry bomb..For under £30 it has to collect 5 stars

opens with concentrated oj and dried fruits, then in mouth, which has quite a nice feel, there are blackcurrent and marmalade. good spicy/oaky finish. slighty harsh, but for this price totally acceptable. An undoubted and unashamed sherry bomb.. For under £30 it has to collect 5 stars at least.

An outstanding blend f malts. A very smooth dram.

I purchased a bottle on the recommendation of a fellow Malt whisky aficionado.; and a bootle as a gift.
I was concerned that there was no age information, as I normally do not buy without this knowledge
The whisky; Extremely dark colour and clearly heavily sherried.
Reminded me of a dark Glenfarclas.
A sweet nose, but no strong aroma. . Possibly would give off more if chambred.
Apart from my initial sip with a couple of drops of water, I sipped it 50:50, which is my norm.
This was outstanding in roundness. A very gentle dram, sweet and easy on the palate.
I will definitely buy again, even without knowing age and recipe. I would, however, wish to know more detail.

Good quality mid week whisky at a good price

For 30 quid there's not much not to like here. Tasty, great daily drinker or base for cocktails or to blend with other whiskies.
Not sure I can think of a cheaper and better option like the reviewer giving 1.5 stars. Share the knowledge ey

Great value. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I bought this for a taste of Christmas and it was spot on. Easier going than the Glenmorangie Lesanta, it wears it's sherry quite lightly yet is still a rich, dried fruit and marmalade treat. Tasted it against a Glenfarclas 18 and I found this richer and ultimately more rewarding. I got none of the metallic taste mentioned in another review.

Sherry bomb with a disappointing finish

I was looking forward to this, but I have to say a little disappointed. The initial taste is what you’d expect from a Sherry Cask finished whisky and quite nice. But it’s the finish that spoils it. You get an explosion of alcohol, with a metallic aftertaste. The colour and Initial taste was so great, Just to be let down in the end. It’s not a lot of money, but I think there are smoother choices out there for this price point.
