Benromach 10 Year Old

The excellent 10 Year Old expression from the Benromach Distillery is a marvellous single malt, which is matured in a classic combo of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks. Packing plenty of dried fruit, fresh vanilla and smoky notes, it's approachable but flavoursome indeed.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Dry, barley, big on malt and oak. Dry pine, fruity. A tad spirity. Sweet spices after a time and a hint of puckering prune from the sherry cask and maple fudge.

Palate Barley, slightly herbal, a little fruit, grassy. Big on malt, ground ginger.

Finish Mouthwateringly bittersweet. Ginger, dry sherry, almost hoppy after a while.

Reviews for Benromach 10 Year Old
A solid choice
This is a great entry level single malt. The nose is Christmas pudding and dark fruits with a grassy, hoppy palette, but also a good degree of smoke. A smooth, decent mouth-feel as well. For a budget whisky this is really good, and I'd definitely recommend.

Nice tasting scotch that isn’t too harsh on the throat
I’m no expert on whisky but I accidentally came across this one and I found that I love it.

For this price you can't go wrong.
For me this is my go to whiskey. It's not a complex dram by any means but all the basics are there; Malt, barley, sweetness and spice and all perfectly balanced.

At this price I'd struggle to recommend a better Speyside.

5Star Speyside Whisky
This expression from Benromach is delicious. For the price there is no beating this dram. There is some complexity with sherried and smokey notes and it is well presented at 43%.

This is a must try bottle for thise who are starting their malt journey and experts aloke!

Master of Malt is way off
I don't know where the descriptors from MOM came from for their tasting notes but they are way off, so here is mine:
This is a TRADITIONAL Speyside, so guess what you will find? Peat! And wow is it an amazing nose on top of the barley sugar, cake, raisins, clove, spice etc.
ABV of 43%, no colour added and a creamy mouthfeel leave me feeling like I got a great value for $ and will be going back for more!

Tasted young for a 10
Massive burn straight after opening. Did calm down after a few days.
Flavour is all barley and malt. More so than any other single malt I've had.
A bit underwhelmed. Perhaps an older expression would bring the undoubted quality to the fore, but really couldn't recommend the 10.

Highly recommended - great value
Quite rich, sweet and fruity - definitely benefitting from the sherry casks - with a hint of smokiness. Easy to drink. Absolutely fantastic value
