An excellent 17 year old BenRiach, from their peated "Solstice" range. This is the second release, replacing the previous 15 year old version, and finished in a port pipe. Lovely stuff!
Nose: A red berry-led nose, with hints of cranberry and raspberry. Oily, brazen peat smoke, with plenty of chocolate malt and sultana notes.
Palate: Damsons and brandy butter, and a thick plume of salty wood smoke. Toffee apples, camphor and chocolate digestive biscuits.
Finish: A very long finish, with supple malt and peat smoke 'til the last…

My bottle is 80% done so I am here to buy more but all sold out!!!! OH NO ardbeg corryvreckan and uigidail were my favs before jim murray sent me to this distillery with this cool peat dream. I wont bore you with what smells flavours I get ITS JUST PERFECT FOR PEATY HEADS END OF STORY. I will now search the world to find a few bottles ............as simple as that............(I dont normally do reviews BUT if u tried it u will just UNDERSTAND...

Such a unique whisky. The peat and the port work so well together and at such a good price for a 17 year old, puts some overpriced Islay's in their place.

I agree with both the reviews. This whisky is quite unique. Amazing the way the Port compliments the peat (or is it the other way around ;-). I love this whisky.

Apart from the above mentioned, you get the leathery sensation. Just fantastic. Definitely one of the best drams I ever had.

The combination of port and peat is unlike any other whisky I have tried. A very special, unique and tasty whisky.
